Quito is ringed by some of the country's most active volcanoes — and for a rider, that means one thing: singletrack everywhere. Here are the five we point people to when they have a free weekend.
1. Pichincha — the classic line
Drop in from the TelefériQo, technical descent down to Cruz Loma. The most classic line in the city.
2. Pululahua — inside the crater
Riding down the rim of the Pululahua crater. Singular views and a completely different terrain to the volcanic descents.
3. Lloa — alpine but accessible
Shuttle up to Lloa, descent through eucalyptus forest and open grassland.
4. Antisana — high mountain
More demanding. We recommend riding it with a guide the first time.
5. Cumbayá DH — the local bike park
Tracks built by the local riding community. Ideal for practising without travelling far.
